Punjab Government Launches Free Transplant Program for Citizens

The Punjab government has started a free transplant program to help people who need life-saving surgeries. This is the biggest transplant program in Pakistan’s history, offering five types of free transplants.
Under the Chief Minister Transplant Programme, the government will provide free liver, kidney, bone marrow, and cornea transplants. Children born with hearing problems will also get free cochlear implants. People must register with the Punjab Human Organ Transplantation Authority to benefit from this program.
Both public and private hospitals will perform these surgeries. The government has also set up a toll-free helpline (09009 0800) for registration and information.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said, “We know our people’s needs, and we will help them. Transplants are very costly, and many cannot afford them. Now, the government will take responsibility.”

Punjab to Introduce Modern Dairy Farming System
Along with healthcare improvements, the Punjab government is also starting a modern dairy farming system based on the Italian model. This project aims to improve milk and cheese production in the province.
A team of Italian investors met with Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb and Livestock Minister Ashiq Hussain to discuss the project. In the first phase, a pilot project with 1,000 buffaloes will begin in Pakpattan, Muzaffargarh, and Jhang.
The project will focus on breeding high-quality buffaloes, increasing milk production, and improving packaging and export quality. New machines will also be introduced for cooling and preserving milk. A detailed dairy policy will be finalized soon.
Minister Ashiq Hussain said that Italy is a global leader in dairy and agriculture, and this collaboration will help Punjab’s farming sector grow.
These projects show the Punjab government’s commitment to improving healthcare and agriculture for a better future.
